hair loss Before and After photos

Unwanted hair can be the bane of many men and women's life. There are many ways to remove unwanted hair such as shaving, waxing or plucking. However those treatments are not long lasting which is why many people decide to treat their unwanted hair more permenently by Intense Pulse Light or Laser.

What is Intense Pulse Light and the Laser Hair Removal System?
Intense Pulse Light Hair Removal System is a non-invasive light therapy device specifically designed to eliminate undesired hair from all parts of the body. Laser works in a similar way but instead of light it utilises laser energy.

How does Intense Pulse Light remove hair?
Intense Pulse Light uses pulsed light to remove hair and impair hair regrowth. First, a cool gel and a hand held treatment unit are gently applied to the skin. Then in a flash, pulses of light safely penetrate the skin and disable hundreds of hair follicles simultaneously. When the gel is removed, much of the hair is wiped off with it. The remaining hair in the treated area falls out within a week or two.

Can all, hair colours, skin colours and parts of the body be treated?
The system's unique design offers you customised treatment, according to your hair and skin colour, texture and location on the body including the chin, upper lip, cheeks, legs, arms, under arms, and back - as well as sensitive areas like the nose, chest, breasts and bikini. Blond, grey and white hair cannot be treated. Black skin (Afro Caribbean) can only be treated by our Laser.

What is the treatment like?
When pulses of energy are delivered to the hair, you may feel a mild sting or pinch, similar to the snap of a rubber band. No local anaesthesia or pain medication is required.

How many treatments are required?
This varies depending upon your hair colour, thickness and the location on the body. Between two and six repeat treatments will be needed to cover the hair cycle with each session lasting 10 - 30 minutes.

Are there any side effects?
You may experience some short-term side effects. This may include slight reddening of the skin or local swelling which goes down within a few days. In rare cases there may be some blistering.

Are there any restrictions on my activity after treatment?
You can return to work the same day and resume all regular activities. No cosmetics or cleansing for 24 hours. No exposure to UV sunlight or sunbeds during your treatment.

Who are candidates for treatment?
Most people can be treated with our Hair Removal System, your suitability will be discussed during your free consultation.

How does Intense Pulse Light or Laser compare with commonly used hair removal methods?
Shaving, waxing and depilatory creams are all temporary methods which must be repeated on a regular basis. Intense Pulse Light or Laser offers permanent hair reduction.

How does Intense Pulse Light or Laser treatment compare with electrolysis?
Electrolysis is a tedious, invasive and painful process which involves inserting needles into each hair follicle and delivering an electrical charge to destroy them one at a time. Electrolysis often requires years of treatment at regular intervals. Intense Pulse Light non-invasively treats hundreds of hair follicles simultaneously. So in a few minutes, Intense Pulse Light can effectively treat an area which would take hours to treat with electrolysis.

How do I go about getting treatment?
Just call our clinic for a free consultation. If you decide to go ahead with treatment, a test patch can usually be done at the time of the consultation. The test patch involves giving a few pulses of energy to the area to be treated, allowing us to set the machines parameters to achieve a level of optimal effectiveness and safety for your skin. An appointment is then made one week later for your first treatment.
