SmartXide laser skin resurfacing Q&A
In the Cellite Clinic your skin will be assessed and treated by our highly qualified and experienced dermatologist, Dr Judodihardjo, who has carried out hundreds of laser skin resurfacing treatments over the years. You can be sure of getting the best possible standard of treatment and care at the Cellite Clinic.
The SmartXide laser is a medical grade laser that works by creating thousands of tiny holes in the skin to a specified depth. This causes a rapid tightening of the skin, which improves the skin’s texture and tones fine lines and deep wrinkles. It also stimulates collagen production, giving the skin a plumper look and feel. The Smartxide laser treatment is quick, lasting only 15 to 30 minutes.
There is a slight stinging sensation during the treatment but this will be reduced by local anaesthetic and topical cream. A mild burning sensation can be felt for up to 48 hours. Protective eye shields will be used as a precautionary measure to protect the eyes.
Depending on the level of depth chosen for the treatment most people will experience a corresponding degree of redness and some swelling which usually subsides within three to seven days. For the medium to deep treatments it may be necessary to take some time off work (5-7days) in order to allow the skin to heal properly. For the light treatment there is usually no need for any time off work. Petroleum jelly or a similar moisturizer can be applied during the recovery time, this will allow the skin to be well moisturised and to avoid any temptation to pull of any scabs formed. This is to allow the skin to heal gently and evenly for the best possible end results. Make-up can usually be worn on the fifth day post medium/ deep procedure, or on the very next day after the light procedure.
The results start to appear after a week or so, but continue to develop for 3-6 months. As the laser stimulates the production of collagen you will notice a progressive improvement of your skin for up to six months after your last treatment.
Anything from one to six treatments. Usually a course of treatments are required four to twelve weeks apart. The treatment plan will be designed, discussed and agreed based on the individual needs and targets for improvement.
- A tendency to develop keloids
- An open wound at the area that is going to be treated
- Abnormality in your immune system
- Diabetic (not suitable for deep treatment)
