Laser Tattoo Removal
Laser Tattoo Removal Cardiff
If you want to remove an unwanted tattoo, the Cellite Clinic offers laser tattoo removal in Cardiff.
Lasers are the most effective non-surgical way to remove a tattoo. Our advanced Q-Switch Nd-YAG Laser can remove most tattoos, but as every tattoo design is different in size, colour and density, some respond better to laser treatment than others.
A consultation with one of our specialists will determine your suitability for treatment and explain what can be realistically achieved.
Why choose Cellite Clinic for laser tattoo removal
Cellite Clinic is a dermatologist led clinic that specializes in laser treatments. You can be sure of the best care possible for your tattoo removal at the clinic.
Can all tattoos be removed
Tattoos are meant to be permanent, so removing them can be difficult hence complete removal cannot be guaranteed. Tattoos vary greatly in size, colour and density, and some respond better to laser treatment than others. Certain colours are very difficult to treat, these include white, yellow, orange, some reds and green tattoos containing fluorescent or acrylic dyes. A consultation with one of our specialists will determine your suitability for treatment and explain what can be realistically achieved.
Does laser tattoo removal hurt
The treatment can be uncomfortable although it usually is quite tolerable without pain relief for most people. It’s usually described as a stinging sensation, rather like an elastic band being snapped against the skin. A local anaesthetic cream can be applied to sensitive areas if required.
How does it work
Short pulses of laser beam is passed over the treatment area. The laser energy is absorbed by the tattoo pigment which explode into tiny fragments which then get pushed out by the skin natural repair process over a period of time. Our lasers use a large number of frequencies that can target a wide range of colours normally without damaging the surrounding areas of skin. After treatment a soothing aloe vera gel is applied.
How many sessions will I need
Each tattoo may respond differently to the treatment depending on its type, size and colour. Normally 8-15 treatments may be required at six week intervals.
How will my skin look after the treatment
An instant whitening of the skin is seen but this usually fades quickly. The treated area is likely to feel tender for a few hours and can be red and swollen for up to 48 hours. Some treated area may form a scab which must be left to heal naturally. Initially the tattoo is unlikely to look any different but will fade over 4 to 8 weeks as the body disperses it.
Will there be any scarring
Unlike other methods of tattoo removal, laser treatments do not cut or burn the surface of the skin, so there is minimal permanent scar tissue. However, some loss of pigment (hypo-pigmentation) or excess pigment (hyper-pigmentation) of the treated area may be evident after the course is completed. This normally fades after six months, but for a small number of people, these changes may be permanent.
The price of laser tattoo removal varies depending on the size of the tattoo and the different kinds of ink used. Prices start from £70 for a small tattoo up to the size of 5cm x 5cm. Prices can only be determined realistically after a full consultation.
