Medical Microdermabrasion Q&A
Unlike the kind of mild microdermabrasion treatments that are found in beauty salons, Cellite Clinic’s medical dermabrasion has a much deeper, more noticeable effect on the skin. When you have medical microdermabrasion in Cardiff at the Cellite Clinic it is done under the supervision of our medical team.
The skin is cleaned and you will be given goggles to protect your eyes from any stray crystals. The wand of a hand-held machine is passed over the skin in smooth, stroking movements. Crystals are directed onto the skin, loosening the dead skin particles and surface skin cells which are then vacuumed away. A regenerating laser beam and ultrasound waves are then applied to the skin to help rejuvenate the skin. It is followed by a soothing anti-inflammatory mask, an anti-oxidant treatment with a mineral and vitamin C complex and end with a protection with a good sun block.
Most people do not find the treatment painful though some may find the treatment uncomfortable. Generally the sensation is tolerable and pain relief is never necessary.
Your skin will feel tight, smooth and could be quite red for up to an hour or two after the treatment. Post-treatment care includes the use of an aloe-vera gel and sunblock cream. The treatment of scars and stretchmark requires the peeling to go deeper and hence may lead to scabs formations that will last for a few days post treatment.
Most people notice an immediate improvement to the texture and appearance of their skin. A course of 6 to 8 weekly treatments is recommended for optimum results for skin rejuvenation. For the treatment of scars or other blemishes the number of treatments required will depend on the severity of the problems.
Medical dermabrasion may be unavailable to you if you have/are
- any active skin infections (such as cold sores); a history of problems with skin healing
- taken isotretinoin within the last 6-12 months.
£70 per session or £400 for 6 sessions.
